Pants for Good started simply as a love for creating and a desire to help those in need.
It had been forming in my mind for quite awhile when I woke up one night, unable to fall back asleep. This is when all genius ideas take form, no? That is when I started really formulating a plan. But back up, it wasn’t a total lighting bolt in the middle of the night.
I grew up in Pennsylvania, playing outside with the neighbors, with my hair in a rat’s nest on the back of my head most of the time. I have 3 sisters and we could brawl. If you have sisters, you know what I mean. Fortunately, my mom was good at all things home-making. Especially crafting and sewing. She took in clothes and mended tears pretty regularly. And you’ve never seen a more intricate holiday cross-stitch on a sweatshirt than when it was time for Christmas cards. So, I guess you could say, “she gets it from her mama.”
I learned to sew pretty early in life, but didn’t start really creating things until after I got married. I’ve since had four kids… four more reasons to know how to work a sewing machine. And more importantly, four more reasons to model the concept of giving.
It is so important to me to see a spirit of giving instilled in my kids. I believe that it’s how we are called to live. From day 1, it has been an uncompromising part of this business. Pants for Good is committed to always donating at least 10% of profits to those in need.
Each time we choose an organization to support, I will tell you all about them- who they are, what they do, and what your support would mean to them. So, watch for that on our blog.
